Surrender Guidelines
SEARK Haus Of Dragons, Inc.
Surrender Guidelines & Policies
We are a small reptile rescue with very limited space, time, and resources. Our goal has
been simple from the start; educate the public, rescue, and rehabilitate.
Animals we are NOT currently able to accept:
❖ Native wildlife species: We are not licensed to handle native Arkansas wildlife.
Please reach out to a licensed rehabilitator listed on the Arkansas Game and
Fish Commission website: https://www.agfc.com/education/wildlife-
rehabilitation/
❖ Aquatic turtles (red-eared sliders, yellow-bellied sliders, map turtles, etc.):
These are among the most commonly surrendered reptiles in the country. We
lack the specialized long-term housing and expertise required, and adoption
demand is extremely low.
❖ Sulcata tortoises: Their enormous adult size and specific habitat needs exceed
what we can currently provide.
❖ Snakes: Snake husbandry and care is outside our primary area of knowledge
and experience. We cannot, in good conscience, accept snake surrenders.
❖ Larger lizards (monitors, tegus, large iguanas, etc.): Accepted only on a very
limited, case-by-case basis when space, enclosure availability, and resources
permit.
Additional surrender policies:
❖ Drop-offs will occur in a public location for the safety of everyone involved. (In
out-of-the-ordinary circumstances, we may be able to arrange to obtain the
reptile directly from the residence—please discuss this with us when you
contact us about a surrender.)
❖ We appreciate your understanding of our limited capacity—space fills up
quickly. We are constantly working on getting more enclosures, but we are still
completely out-of-pocket for all rescue-related expenses.
